Lineation
Words from an unquiet mind on an unquiet earth.
Lineation
words written in eco-grief
Unearthed We grapple rocks Loosening Along worn paths. Sky-eyes Cast, kite-high Over mountainous thresholds Crowned with a quiet cloud. Earth-heart Molten, soft-core Under hard layers Ceded in folded maps. Galactic-mind Fusing, rapt-riven Cosmic boulders Exploding in silence. Distractions to ignore The depth of rock pools Hidden in stratus hugs. Beneath these hills This earth shakes and tenses Riles at itself For being so moved. Shuddering shoulders Cracking, crumpling. The burden of bearing Such heavy stone. Natural forces Quaking and converging Fissured and frozen Forging and folding Cross-cutting fault after fault Strained and buckling In this fractured physics Of push and pull. So bare and raw are we In this slow earthflow. We dare and dream Discover geodes Chambered deep. Classify, identify. Intellectualising Chaotic intersections. Laid deep in layers Those rules and laws Marked and measured By the absolutes of dating. We will not shift Such deep-drawn lines. Boundaries to hold us As we traverse Exposed on ridge edges With tumbling shards and scree Rolling down the face.
