Welcome to a wilder place
Imagined futures
I have been looking for a place to write, even if only to myself — a wilder place, to gather together the edges and margins, where ecological thinking collides with imagined worlds.
We need wild minds that can imagine our future in a better way, urgently, and sustainably. Yet, speculative, fantasy, and fictional writing is often separated from nature writing, when really, the intertwining and entangling of these happens when we think ecologically. It feels vitally important to value imagined ecologies. After all, being physically able to access wild places is a privilege. It’s not a privilege that everyone has. We don’t all have equal access to forests, mountains or remoteness. But, we all have imagination.
So, this is a place about ecological writing, for both plausible and imagined futures.
What will you imagine, dream and wonder, as you wander here?
The way of wild water
Unearths skeletal windling
Burrowing roots
Grappling earth
For deep life.
